18 Titi Monkeys Tried to be Smuggled Under Man’s T-Shirt

Authorities at Mexico City’s International airport have arrested a man that was carrying 18 titi monkeys in his clothes. Suspicious grew larger when upon questioning he became very nervous. These titi monkeys are an endangered species.

Titi MonkeysThe man who allegedly tried to smuggle the animals has been identified as Roberto Cabrera, 38. Two of the tiny monkeys didn’t survive the rough handling and “packing”.

Cabrera, according to migration papers, arrived from Lima, Peru carrying these creatures. He has stated he bought the monkey in his travel at $30 each, but even if his claims are true, he must know we are talking here about an endangered animal, and their transportation requires a special permit for travel.

Cabrera also added that even though he was carrying them in his suitcase, decided to stuff them in pouches attached to his girdle so they wouldn’t’ get hurt by X-Rays. He has been charged with trafficking an endangered species.
